Omega Redd's 2003 Top 10 Carnage Films

When we went to see The Core, we knew immediately that it was gonna be horrible.  What we didn't expect was that it would start the first ever carnage run.  Without this movie, there would be no Carnage List.  Carnage in films is getting better and better.  What's carnage you ask?  Webster defines carnage as a 'Great destruction of life'.  I view it as when something is so extreme, so out of control, so beyond containment that the only thing you can do is succomb to it.  We'll try to break down each individual instance so you can see what I'm talking about.

The Core - Burning Bridges

The start of all the Carnage Lists.  This movie made such an impression at our midnight showing that it sparked the watchful eye for all other carnage related incidents.  The scene takes place on the Golden Gate Bridge in California.  The suns rays are passing through a huge hole in the ozone.  Everything in it's path are, of course, scorched.  First, it's just on the ocean where the water boils and sealife is popping up to the surface due to the heat.  But then it passes over the bridge.  Here's where the hilarity starts. First, it scrotches everyone's arms that are resting on the open window sills.  Then, it melts everyone's tires to the road.  Then, it melts all the heavy duty, industrial strength cables that hold up the bridge, thus causing everyone to plummet into the boiling sea.  Therefore, it ranks as #1 this year.
Terminator 3 - Crane Chase Scene
What can I say, chases usually have a lot of carnage in them, but this one just rocks.  Arnold Schwarzenegger is trying to stop the huntress T-X.  She has utilized a crane as her vehicle of the chase.  Not only does she take Arnold for a ride through a section of a business, complete with a total obliteration of that section, but Arnold takes her for a ride too.  By dropping the hook, connected to a metal tether, down a manhole.  This causes the tether to unwide at breakneck speeds until there is no more tether to be dispatched.  At which point, the wire is pulled through the concrete until it stops and the crane itself is crushed under the force, flipped and coming to a final halt.  All good, all great.  Watch for the tires popping off for no apparent reason.
Final Destination - Highway Pile-Up (and subsequent deathes)
The movie just speaks for itself.  The Final Destination series (I personally look forward
Pirates of the Caribbean - Pirate Ship 180

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King - Castle Catapults

Matrix Reloaded - Truck Head-On Collision

Open Range - Scatter Gun

Once Upon a Time in Mexico - Bus Into Tanker Truck

Bubba Ho-Tep - RV Explosion

House of 1000 Corpses - Opening Robbery

Paycheck - Motorcycle Chases Last Resort

This one just makes it on the list because of both the combination of absurdity and comedy.  Uma Thurman and Ben Affleck are on a motorcycle being chased by local authorities and an organization that wants to silence them.  Anyway, the scene takes place with them, on the motorcycle, and a police vehicle chasing them into an underground, manmade tunnel.  Now the car just fits, that's essencial to know.  A low pipe comes up and the two duck.  The cop's lights get taken clear off.  Then, an arbitrary pipe sticking straight down comes up.  The two part to either side, but the cop's entire roof and windshield get yanked off.  Still going, Uma Thurman takes off her helmet and chucks it at the pursuing officer, knocking him unconscious.
